The Weight Loss Secret is Surprisingly Simple.
It's actually quite simple.
But before I reveal exactly what the weight loss secret is, let me ask you a few questions:
o Do you eat when you're feeling depressed, angry, anxious, or stressed?
o Do you eat quickly?
o Are you a multi-tasker when you eat? (Do you read, work at the computer, etc.?)
o Do you eat in front of the television or while driving?
o Do you feel that you just don't have time to eat a "regular sit-down meal"?
My guess is that most of you will say "yes" to at least one of these...if not ALL of them!
I can relate...that used to be me.
"So what's the big deal? Isn't it all about WHAT you eat, not HOW you eat, or how you FEEL?"
It's actually a VERY big deal.
When you are rushed, not paying attention to what you're eating, or feeling a negative emotion when you eat, you're doing worse things to your body--and weight loss efforts--than eating any kind of "bad" food.
Nutritional researchers have discovered that the brain MUST experience pleasure and satisfaction while eating. Why? So that our body can properly absorb the essential nutrients.
Otherwise our brain thinks we have eaten nothing. So we get a loud-and-clear signal: I'M STILL HUNGRY! So we eat more...and more...but we're still not satisfied.
The other factor is how we FEEL when we eat. If we are feeling stressed, in a rush, angry, depressed--or any other negative emotion--our bodies go into a "flight-or-fight" response. This shuts down our digestion AND metabolism, which means we are not burning calories or losing weight.
Millions of people in the U.S. are stressed, overworked, depressed--and overweight. Do you see how this becomes a vicious cycle? But with the weight loss secret, there is a solution. And it's really quite simple (and fun!).

Did you know that France and Italy have very few overweight people?

It's because the French and Italians take time for their meals, they eat in a relaxed state, and don't rush through their meals. (Sure, the red wine certainly helps them to relax and slow down, too!)
But the weight loss secret is that they are FULLY PRESENT while they are eating. They are relaxed, and take time for their meals. They KNOW how special meal times are, and they thoroughly enjoy their food. Their brain then KNOWS that they have eaten, and feels satisfied. They don't overeat and there are no stress hormones to shut their metabolism down.
They are Sensual Eaters.
Certainly, there is something to be said for the quality of the foods they eat: very little packaged products, mostly fresh, locally-grown (and organic) FLAVORFUL vegetables, dairy, and meat. They focus on quality over quantity, but even with eating less, they are still satisfied.
I have a strong Italian heritage. I was taught how to be a Sensual Eater. But as I got wrapped up in the stresses of daily (American!) life I lost touch with it. But I've gone back to that knowledge, and have found that there are additional, special ways to be a Sensual Eater that ensure your weight loss success. THIS is the "real" weight loss secret. I'll discuss this more below.
