What's the connection between Omega 3 and Weight Loss?

The connection between Omega 3 and weight loss is well-established. Research published in July 2006 makes the connection between Omega 3 and weight loss even stronger. The study showed that daily doses of fish oil (which contains omega 3 fats), when combined with exercise, created weight loss with no dietary change. The study participants who took fish oil and exercised lost an average of 4.5 pounds over 3 months, with no dietary restrictions. Here's the physiologic connection between omega 3 and weight loss: Omega 3 increases fat burning ability by improving blood flow to your muscles during exercise. Omega 3 fats have also been shown to boost brain functioning and reduce the risk of stroke. So this new research gives you yet another reason to eat fish! If you like the taste of fish, the best source of omega 3 fats is from cold water and oily fish such as wild salmon that's been tested for contaminants, sardines, and herring. If you're not crazy about the taste of canned sardines or herring (although they are quite tasty on crackers with mustard...), I recommend

(avoid farmed fish) because it is the only truly safe source of fish. Or, you can buy a liquid or pill fish oil supplement. Many health authorities are promoting krill oil now. HOWEVER, the krill are whales' primary source of food.
