Can you lose weight with vinegar?
New research shows that you can, indeed, achieve weightloss with vinegar.

lose weight with vinegar, apple cider vinegar for weight loss, weightloss with vinegar

New research shows that you can lose weight with vinegar, by eating vinegar either before or with your meal. Study participants who ate 2 tablespoons of vinegar before one of their daily meals lost up to 1 pound a week--without making any other changes to their diet!

It appears to work by affecting your blood sugar response to the meal. It keeps your blood sugar stable, so you are more likely to feel satisfied longer after you finish eating, and are less likely to overeat.

Here's an abstract of the 2005 study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.

And here's the other study.

You can lose weight with vinegar by having a salad before your meal, or with your meal. Sounds easy, doesn't it?

Not all vinegars are created equal.

Many people are already using apple cider vinegar for weight loss but most vinegars that you buy in the grocery store don't offer the greatest benefits of vinegar. The best kind of vinegar is one that hasn't been pasteurized, and is raw. These vinegars contain a beneficial compound called "the mother", which is actually protein strands from the culturing process.

There are several brands that offer an unpasteurized vinegar, including Bragg's. Interestingly enough, on the Bragg's apple cider vinegar label, one of the health benefits that's listed is "Helps control and normalize weight".

Seems the people at Bragg's didn't need a team of researchers to tell them that vinegar can help you lose weight! I also use their vinegar to make clay facial masks, and I love the way it tightens up my skin and makes it tingle!

My favorite type of vinegar, though, is balsamic. It has a rich, sweet flavor and is great for sauces, marinades, and salad dressings. I recommend buying organic balsamic vinegar, though, because it is made from grapes. (Grape crops are very heavily sprayed with pesticides.)

You can find organic balsamic vinegar in any health food store (some grocery stores, too). The best vinegar that I've found is produced by Omega Nutrition.

Don't buy vinegar supplements.

There are vinegar supplements available, but researchers believe that the beneficial effect is from the acetic acid in the vinegar, which is not present in the vinegar supplements. Besides, I'd rather have my vinegar on a tasty salad of vitamin- and fiber-rich vegetables than a boring pill!

I'll add some of my favorite recipes using vinegar soon, so stay tuned! It's easy to lose weight with vinegar when you use it in quick salads, and I have some great recipes.
