Leptin and Weight Loss
Leptin and weight loss are intimately connected because leptin is the “fat hormone.” It is a hormone secreted by fat tissue that communicates directly with the brain and tells the brain how much fat is stored. But poor eating habits (and a host of other issues) can set leptin out of whack, which sets us up for weight that is very difficult to lose.
The Leptin Diet, as prescribed by Byron Richards, CCN (that stands for Certified Clinical Nutritionist), is an easy way to get your leptin back in balance—and make losing weight an automatic thing.
Your body is programmed to keep the amount of fat you have in perfect balance—we screw it up by eating too much, too often, and not exercising enough.
When this happens, the signals between leptin and the brain become impaired, and we pack on the weight. The basic tenets of leptin for weight loss involve what Richards calls “The Five Rules.” In a nutshell, it’s pretty similar to what our mothers told us as kids: Don’t snack between meals.Don’t eat too much at one meal. The kitchen is officially closed after dinner, which should be no sooner than 3 hours before bed.Keep carbohydrates in check.Get outside and exercise!I’ve broad-stroked the rules here (there are finer points), but you get the jist. They’re powerfully simple. And they work. After reading all of the science about leptin and weight loss, I’m convinced that this is the one true way to feed your body for optimum weight and health. Here's a tip that's worked for me: Add a product that addresses the emotional causes of overeating (such as tapping or
hypnosis
) will supercharge your results. Learn more about leptin for weight loss at Richards’ site,
